The last few weeks have been amazing! Zoe and I went to Paris, I saw my college friends, and Rachel turned 26! Here are the updates!!!
paris: march 27-30
I loveeeeed Paris SO MUCH! It was so fun and I cannot wait to go back. Zoe and I left on Thursday the 27th and it was only an hour and a half flight! We flew into Paris Orly Airport so we could easily take the train into the city (Zoe is the Paris expert) and arrived to our hotel around 5 pm. We stayed at Hotel Margot which was okay. If you like the smell of tikka masala then this hotel is for you. It was extremely inexpensive which is why we booked it, but it was safe and the people were nice but it just wasn’t the best hotel experience - you live and you learn.
On Thursday night, Zoe and I met up with Alice, Adi, Meredith, and two of their friends from New York for dinner - one of the main reasons I went to Paris was because they were there and I wouldn’t be able to see them when I go home for Easter! We went to Brasserie Thoumieux for dinner, which might be the best meal I have had in Europe so far. It was DELICIOUS. Zoe and I both got steak and split our sides, mashed potatoes & green beans, and WOW. The mashed potatoes were SOOOO GOOD and ugh, I miss them. I had escargot, which was suprisingly really good - it was covered in this lemon pesto sauce (I think?) and it was yummy. I could only eat one but I was glad I tried it. After dinner, the restaurant turns into a fun little piano bar where people were dancing, singing, and having a good time! Overall, it was a really fun restaurant with amazing food and would 100% go back (especially for the mashed potatoes).

On Friday, Zoe and I saw the Eiffel Tower and then walked around La Marais area. We ate lunch by the Eiffel Tower - touristy move, I know - but we were so hungry we had to stop. After, we went shopping, and Zoe got some good pieces from the Sandro Outlet! We went into some vintage stores and I got a sweater, but not a ton of shopping on my end! It was a little overcast on Friday, and ended up raining in the afternoon, but I am glad I got to experience the typical Paris weather! For dinner, we saw the NY Girls again and went to Chez Janou which is a very famous restaurant! Zoe and I split ravioli and… steak… but the best part was the famous chocolate mousse! It didn’t look very appetizing (lol) but it was so delicious. It was also really cold which made it even better. We had to say our goodbyes after dinner because they were leaving on Saturday, but overall it was so fun to see them - even though it was just for a little bit! Zoe and I were not quite ready for the night to end after dinner, so we met up with some friends she has met before who live in Paris and we went out with them. We went to a fun club with good music and had so much fun!

We had a pretty late start on Saturday morning, but the sun came back out and it was SUCH a beautiful day. Zoe did some more shopping while I had to stop by Merci (mollie’s favorite store), and it did not disappoint. Zoe and I ate at a cafe, people watched, and just had a good Saturday! We went to this asian fusion place for dinner called Le Plume which was right next to the Notre Dame Cathedral and had an amazing view. They had a rooftop bar, but we didn’t stay long because it got pretty cold at night. We called it a night after dinner!

*if you can’t tell, this was not a museum / touristy trip, but more of just a fun, shopping & dining trip :)*
On Sunday, we woke up early and checked out of our tikka masala hotel because we wanted to go see the Lourve and do some last minute sight seeing. Zoe and I saw a woman carrying a Chipotle bag so obviously we had to go eat at Chipotle. They don’t have it in Madrid, so it was a nice surprise and it tasted just how I remember!!! SO GOOD! We saw the Lourve and the Seine, and I touched the top of the Lourve. After, we went back to the hotel and got our bags to head to the airport.

Overall thoughts: I love Paris and I want to go back. The next time I go back, I want to do all the touristy things, see the museums, the flea markets, etc. but I know it is impossible to do all at once. I am thinking of going for a solo trip as well because I love going to museums by myself and there is no stress if you are alone! I also want to go back with my family and friends! So many options!

Rachel turned 26 on the 2nd so we had a little pizza party for her! On Friday, we went to a fairly new place called Gastón Wine Bar to have some food and have cake! After, we went to this place called Sala B which has live music until 1 am and then the DJ comes on after that. The live music was SO GOOD, better than the DJ, but it was fun hearing both. The Italians came to celebrate Rachel as well, so it was fun seeing them again! We love them and they are our friends now (lol). On Saturday morning, the Charlottes came over and we put my mattress and the pull out couch mattress in the living room and had a major lazy day. We went on a sunset walk, but that was about all we did on Saturday! On Sunday, MG, Charlotte, and I went to church that was in a mall, in a movie theater! I have never had church smell like popcorn, but we were all glad we went and want to go back!
